lfg screening & discussion

The documentary LFG is a no-holds-barred, inside account of the U.S. women’s national soccer team’s fight for equal pay as told by Megan Rapinoe, Jessica McDonald, Becky Sauerbrunn, Kelley O’Hara, Sam Mewis and others. An official selection of the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival, it premiered to rave reviews in June of 2021.

MamaDen and Superkin are joining forces to discuss critical issues brought to light in the film, with Molly Levinson, strategic advisor to the USWNT players and Abby Greensfelder, producer of LFG + founder of Everywoman Studios. We'll discuss US women's soccer winning campaign, how the documentary came to be, the status of pay equity for women in sports and what we can do to fight for equal pay more broadly.

We recommend pre-screening the film, which is currently streaming on HBO Max. If you don't have access, a link will be provided in the event confirmation to pre-screen the movie.

If you are able, a suggested donation of $15 will go directly to the Women's Sports Foundation, a 501c3 established in 1974 to advance the lives of women and girls through sports and physical activity.

4006DF74-6A33-46E1-9619-8DB238975C56_1_201_a.jpeg

Join us for our first in-person event!

We’ll gather outdoors and connect with other moms over tacos and wine at Chaia's newest location in Bethesda.

Dr. Maria Zimmitti is a clinical psychologist, a mom, a CEO and an entrepreneur with over 20 years’ experience evaluating and treating children, teens, and young adults with ADHD, anxiety, depression, learning differences, and autism spectrum disorders. Helping parents achieve health for themselves and in their relationships with their children is central to her work and has become an even greater focus during the pandemic.

She founded Georgetown Psychology and recently co-founded Helix Center in response to the growing mental health crisis among adolescents and families.

According to the CDC, the number of mental-health-related emergency room visits for 5 to 11 year olds went up by 24 percent from April to October 2020, compared with the same period in 2019.

Emergency-room trips for suicide attempts by 12-to-17 year olds increased by nearly 40 percent last winter compared with 2019. From August 2019-August 2021, intentional self-injury increased by more than 300%.

Faced with another school year where Covid looms large, we’ll have a very important conversation about what’s happening to kids around the country and what we can do to help our own children manage their fears and anxieties.
